After battling the rain and being disappointed that The Milk Bar Inc had sold out of burgers (see below), we decided to give this place a go. If appearances count for quality, Jacks Newtown looks like it has the goods. The big Jacks Newtown lettering and the neon burger sign certainly gives the place some character and reminds you why you are here.
Looking at the interior board, there are plenty of options. Double Cheeseburger with fries for us please!
The friendly staff don't mind a few piccies for our burger blog.
Notice the cheese melting as the meat patty cooks on the hot plate. This is how you cook a burger folks!
Oh wow. We could not wait to sink our teeth into this. Look at how invitingly soft those buns are! Please appreciate the pain of the burger photographer- taking in the melted cheese and the soft glimmer of oil as his mouth waters whilst considering how cold his burger is becoming so he can take a photo for the public. Oh the torture!!
Upon ordering, the friendly staff at Jacks Newtown asks you if you'd like a pickle on your burger. The answer to this will always be yes. 'Don't include a pickle' said no burger-lover ever!
Notice the solid pickle at the top of the burger.
OK, so eating this was simply a delight.
The bun was a soft milky white bun, allowing us to have a
firm grip on the burgers and hold it together. The meat patties were hot and
oozing with juice. We love burgers that ooze more oil than a rich Middle Eastern country.
The feel of the burger was reminiscent of that great
American burger chain Shake Shack- a soft bun with crunchy lettuce. The texture of the beef was second to none. The flavour
also reminded us of Shake Shack- cheesy goodness.
However the meat was too bland. It didn't make the burger sing. The meat was more of a filler to enable the cheese to be the real super star of this burger.

The sauce on the burger is Jacks sauce- a combination of
mustard and mayo which holds the burger together well, allowing the flavours to
sing together.
We don’t know how they do their crinkle fries, but they are a
wonderful side complement to the burger. They are quite crunchy and very tasty. It made us want to keep going back for more.
The juice left from the burger made us want to dip our fries
in it. Very satisfying! A great way to spend a rainy Tuesday night in Sydney.
crinkle fries omg.. I would go there just for that
